Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou e Mātua Atawhai/Loving greetings to all you Kind Caregivers

Wow, another year has passed us by and here we are looking forward to the holiday break in whatever form that might take.  I love to hear how whānau celebrate this time of year, whether with trees and decorations, or not; whether with lots of family, or not; whether planned to the ‘enth degree, or not!  Whatever you decide please make sure you have reflection, rest and relaxation on your list, or not!

We have whānau visiting from Melbourne, so there’ll be fishing and sea-biscuit riding on our schedule with life jackets being maintained.  What do you have as your ‘life-preserver’ whilst Mokopuna are home from school?  Watching some favourite movies together (especially funny ones), games, new books and puzzles are great to fill those boredom gaps.  Of course, device time will increase so please ensure supervision is vigilant.

TRAINING

I’ve enjoyed the recent trainings some of you have attended kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) as well as online.  Please take a look at the training schedule for 2023, when it comes out, to find a topic that suits your needs or just come and share your experience with other people with big hearts and open homes.

EVENTS

Conference Reflection from Molly Rapana:

“Lovely. I really enjoyed it this time round, I’m not sure if it was lockdown and we were happy to meet again. I met many new caregivers and some old ones from last time…inspiring to hear from some caregivers who were doing the critical support worker training. I became interested and picked up the pamphlet.”

Family Fun Days at the pools went well for those who came.  The Clown and ‘Chip n Dale’ were a hit.  I will change the way the registrations are managed next year as we had a low turnout from our list.

Figure 2. (Right) Post on our Facebook group how many balls are being juggled and I’ll have a L’Oreal fragrance as a prize…

Whangārei Ministers Group have planned a carol sing-a-long at Pūtahi Park.  I’ll put the date and time on our Facebook page when I get it confirmed.   I’ll be there.

Please post any special end-of-year events you know about on our Facebook group so others can join you.

May Peace, Joy and Hope be yours these Holidays.
