Events

Events offer an opportunity to connect with other caregivers, share our successes, and learn from others how to navigate challenges.

Our regional co-ordinators and support groups facilitate events in communities across the country. Caring Families Aotearoa also stages a series of national events. Highlights include our National Conference, the Excellence in Foster Care Awards in association with Oranga Tamariki, L’Oréal Face Your Future and Family Fun Days.

National Conference

‘Keeping PACE’ is New Zealand’s only two day conference for caregivers and those working within the sector. We have a full programme of international and national speakers excited to give you the latest learnings and tools to help create your very own therapeutic home to heal children in care.

Excellence in Foster Care Awards

Each year 10 amazing caregivers or couples are celebrated for the astonishing work they do. Caring Families Aotearoa has been holding the Excellence in Foster Care Awards annually since 2007.

Face your Future

For the past 12 years, L’Oréal and Caring Families Aotearoa have seen more than 500 care-experienced young people, aged between 16-18 years, come together for an inspirational two days designed to get them thinking about what they want to do once they leave school.

Foster Care Awareness Week

Foster Care Awareness Week is the time of year when we go all out to celebrate you and the incredible work that you do every day. You make such an enormous difference in the lives of the children in your care, and we want to express our utter appreciation. We’ve organised a fun event in our area for you to enjoy and take a break!

Fun Days

Every year from November to December Family Fun Days are held all around New Zealand. Family Fun Days are local community events funded by local businesses. They are a great day out for children in care, joined by other deserving children who have had a tough start to life and biological children of foster and whānau caregivers.
