Regional Hui
Regional hui are hosted around the motu (country) by our Regional Coordinators every second year, alternating with our National Conference.
Regional hui are free, full-day events for caregivers, with varied and exciting programmes that will have something for everyone. From inspiring speakers, self care activities, cultural experiences and learning, to interactive workshops, caregiver connection, and delicious kai; regional hui are an event not to be missed!
This year we are excited to be hosting regional hui in Dunedin, Auckland South, and Rotorua. Check out the details below.
Auckland South Hui
HOSTED IN PUKEKOHE
Theme: Navigating the family court and maintaining wellbeing
DATE AND TIME: Thursday 26 October 2023, 9:30AM – 2:00PM
VENUE: Franklin: The Centre, 12 Massey Avenue, Pukekohe
This hui will give insight and understanding to help caregivers navigate the family court and legal process, with brief presentations by Family Court Kaiārahi, an Open Home Foundation social worker, Family Court Lawyers, and the Ombudsman Office. To finish the day we’ll hear from Tuihana Ohia, an inspirational wellbeing speaker.
There will also be time over morning tea and lunch (fully catered) to mingle and connect with other caregivers.

Central North Hui
Hosted in Rotorua
Theme: Give yourself permission
DATE AND TIME: Saturday 28 October 2023,
9:30AM – 1:30PM, followed by hot pools
VENUE: Te Aomarama Hall, Tunohopu Street, Ohinemutu, Rotorua
This hui is about giving yourself permission to take a break and practice self care when it is needed.
You will hear from speakers with expert knowledge from both an academic view and lived experience, around the importance of self care and ‘keeping your cup full.’ Tamariki will be kept busy with interactive activity stations. The event is fully catered.
After the hui, we have two 2 hour sessions (2:00PM and 5:00PM) available at Waikite Valley hot Pools for caregivers to indulge and enjoy with their whānau.

Lower South Hui
Hosted in Dunedin
Theme: Pause, reflection, and community
DATE AND TIME: Friday 20 October, 9:30AM – 2:30PM
VENUE: Petridish, 8 Stafford Street, Dunedin Central
This hui will have something for everyone. You will hear from Tuihana Ohia, an inspiring wellbeing speaker. There will also be a whole food plant-based cooking demonstration to teach you a quick budget-friendly meal for the whānau, and a presentation from the Ombudsman Office. This event is fully catered and there will be time to mingle and connect over lunch.
