I hope this month sees the beginning of the end of lockdowns for us, don’t you? This lockdown has been particularly hard on some parents and now with the start of the school holidays, you could be forgiven for feeling “over” having your kids home. Caring for yourself is more important than ever. Giving some time to your personal wellbeing is just as important as meeting the needs of the children in your care. Quite often it can feel like there is no time in the day to give to yourself. This is when a bit of creative timing comes in handy. Relaxation exercises, catching up with friends, a good book or watching a movie are a few ideas that are perfect for when the kids are otherwise occupied. One of my favourites is a deep bath when all the kids are in bed. We all find our happy in our own way so whatever makes you smile and fills your cup is a good start to self-care.

Registrations for our annual Family Fun Days are now open. In our region we have pool parties in Papakura on 11 December, Hamilton on 18 December and Thames on 19 December. For the events I cannot attend, someone from our local committee will be there to greet you.
