Talofa lava to our hearty caregivers in the Auckland South & Waikato regions.

Happy Fathers day to all our very special Dads. You bring a valued role model into the lives of our tamariki and we wish you a grand day on Sunday 3 September,  full of fun and laughter. I hope the brekkie is edible!

For those of you who are single caregivers, and parenting all by yourself (with maybe some whānau/family support if you’re lucky), make sure you pat yourself on the back on Sunday too!  It’s nice to be acknowledged for the role you do… we applaud you all!

EVENTS: Auckland South/Waikato Regional Hui

SAVE THE DATE! Thursday 26th October

We are organising a day next month for all our caregivers to come, learn, connect and be refreshed.  This hui will have something for everyone, you won’t want to miss this.

I know some of you work but I do think this will be very valuable. It’s like a mini conference for our region.  For those that attended our national conference last year, you may have heard Tuihana Ohia speak.  Tuihana comes with a wealth of experience within the wellbeing space, and a passion for Hauora (wellbeing). Her presentation had rave reviews, and she will be one of our presenters at the hui.  Mark the date!  More information and details coming soon.

SUPPORT

Polynesian Caregivers Meeting

It was great to connect recently with our local Family Court Navigators.  Finding out information for those family/kin/whānau who don’t have Oranga Tamariki involved was great learning.  Navigating the Family Court system is daunting and it’s great to have this team here to help.  Please use them – click here for a flyer with more information.

It was also good to have ‘Cause Collective’ come and share with us too.  As a Pacific social change agency, they are interested in social problems facing communities most in need, to see what’s getting in the way of them thriving. Learn more about the Cause Collective HERE.  Thanks to both groups for your time.

The next Polynesian Support Group date is…

  • 21st September, 10:00AM – 12:00PM at Clover Park Community House, 16A Israel Avenue  – Fonua Ola will be attending to present who they are and what they do, come along and listen and learn, it may benefit you and those close to you.

We are always interested in assisting caregivers to connect and share together.  If you feel you would like to start a support group in your area, please contact me to help you get a group up and running, cell: 027 244 7371 or email me – aucklandsouth@caringfamilies.org.nz
