Our mission is to uphold the mana of tamariki in care by:
- Strengthening the care family and whānau to provide stability through a healing environment.
- Working in partnership with family, whānau, hapū, iwi, and other stakeholders to provide:
- Support – emotional and tangible
- Training and learning opportunities
- Advocacy (individual and systemic).
Our Guiding Principles | Whakatakanga

Mana tamiti – the child’s best interest and wellbeing are paramount.

Tika – we recognise the unique place of Tangata Whenua as first peoples of this land and will honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Pono – work in a culturally responsive, ethical, responsible and professional manner, respecting the inherent worth and dignity of others.

Whakawhitiwhiti kōrero – clear communication, participation, innovation, collaboration and mutual respect.

Whakarongo – ensure the voice of caregivers informs decision making.

Taumata rau – promoting excellence in caregiving and professional practice.

Whakaoraora – practice for children in care will be trauma-responsive, attachment-framed and evidence-based.

Āta Haere – to be intentional and deliberate and to approach reflectively, moving with respect and integrity. It signals the act of moving an awareness of relationships, their significance and requirements.
