Kia ora everyone,

I hope all of our caregiver members registered for the ‘Night on Us’ – Pizza deal. Our household certainly did. Many thanks to Dominos, (nice to find out how community minded they are!) and to Caring Families Aotearoa. Thanks to one of our regional members for her photo – lots of enjoyment and of course a night off cooking! Can’t beat that.

“CFA you made our day! Thank you! #Dominopizza #notjustthe$5pizzas #thegoodones! #justformumanddad #youguysonlylikethecheesycheeseanyway”

Easter is here. I hope you get some time off to play, be with, and have fun with your tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people). That’s why I like these special days, 99% of everything is closed… no shops open, nothing to distract us from chilling out with those loved ones in our whare (home). We have an annual easter egg hunt, just like many other families. Grandma enjoys setting this up, she’s gone from just hiding the little eggs inside and outside, to now that the tamariki are older, everyone is presented with 10 – 15 written clues to find the places where the eggs will be….some of the clues are certainly cryptic, but fun!  So, remember Easter is a gift to us, so enjoy it.

Thanks for your Feedback: TRAINING – National Caregiver Training Programme

We really do appreciate your feedback. This last year has been an unsettling time. We know we’ve postponed trainings due to the COVID alert levels fluctuating and people’s apprehension in returning to workshops in the aftermath of alert level changes. We know we’ve cancelled trainings due to low numbers. We’ve been working on a new training registration system that hasn’t always been as responsive to you as we would have liked. We’ve heard that this has affected your confidence in what we can provide. We apologise that this has been the experience of some of you. We believe very strongly in the importance of Caregiver learning and so are very aware of what we need to clearly communicate to you going forward. There will be some changes from July, we will let you know once the details have been confirmed. Thank you once again for your feedback.  If you have some feedback for us please email stephaniej-s@caringfamilies.org.nz.

Recently I’ve had the role of supporting team members presenting our ‘Online Training Sessions’. It’s been great to see members from all over Aotearoa on the screen, learning together in their own space. Offering online training can be accessed by any of our members anywhere throughout the country. It is certainly a different way of learning but you still have caregivers sitting in a virtual room with you. We’re trying to offer them not only during the day but evenings and weekend sessions too. Head to our website – training tab to see our schedule and register. See you there virtually!

Tiaki Koe i a Koe / Take Care of Yourself,

Stephanie
