Kia ora everyone,

My name is Christine Frost and I have been given the opportunity and privilege to be the new Central North Regional Coordinator for Caring Families Aotearoa. I am extremely excited to be in this position and am looking forward to supporting caregivers to provide secure and healing homes, by providing tools to ensure the placement has the best possible chance of success.

My extensive work history in Community, Social, and Education sectors has strengthened my framework of practice. I focus on a strength-based and solution-focused approach to enable families/whānau to achieve positive outcomes. Over the last 15 years, I have been passionate about creating opportunities for individuals, families/whānau and groups to flourish and to achieve a state of Mauri Ora/Total wellbeing working within an holistic approach.

I am currently a whānau caregiver of three beautiful tamariki and mother to two. I am looking forward to building new relationships, sharing experiences and knowledge with the many caregivers in our region.

I am based at Te Waiariki Purea Trust, 1274 Fenton Street, Rotorua, 3010. My hours of work will be Tuesday – Friday 8.45 am – 3.30 pm.  Mobile: 027 501 0393 Email: centralnorth@caringfamilies.org.nz Freephone: 0800 693 323.

I hope all of our caregiver members registered for the ‘Night on Us’ – Pizza deal. Our household certainly did. Many thanks to Dominos, (nice to find out how community minded they are!) and to Caring Families Aotearoa. Thanks to one of our regional members for her photo – lots of enjoyment and of course a night off cooking! Can’t beat that.

“CFA you made our day! Thank you! #Dominopizza #notjustthe$5pizzas #thegoodones!#justformumanddad #youguysonlylikethecheesycheeseanyway”

Training

Thanks for your Feedback: TRAINING – National Caregiver Training Programme

We really do appreciate your feedback. This last year has been an unsettling time. We know we’ve postponed trainings due to the COVID alert levels fluctuating and people’s apprehension in returning to workshops in the aftermath of alert level changes. We know we’ve cancelled trainings due to low numbers. We’ve been working on a new training registration system that hasn’t always been as responsive to you as we would have liked. We’ve heard that this has affected your confidence in what we can provide. We apologise that this has been the experience of some of you. We believe very strongly in the importance of Caregiver learning and so are very aware of what we need to clearly communicate to you going forward. There will be some changes from July, we will let you know once the details have been confirmed. Thank you once again for your feedback.

Tiaki Koe i a Koe / Take Care of Yourself,

Christine
