Kia ora koutou,

Firstly, I just want to say what a privilege it has been thus far to have met many of our current members and a number of new members of Caring Families Aotearoa.  I still have yet to get around some areas of our region and meet the rest of you, but it will happen, and I am looking forward to it.

Secondly, I want to take this time to also acknowledge the challenging yet amazing job you are doing in raising these precious taonga. Amongst the tiring times, there are moments some caregivers have mentioned that bring a breath of fresh air to your homes and hearts as well as mine. As small as “he managed to have two days without an outburst” to “she is doing amazing this term and has made so much progress”.  These moments whether how big or small should be treasured and celebrated.

Training

Training for this term will kick off in a couple of weeks so please register and come along as these sessions can be very informative. They allow caregivers to offer and share such valuable experiences and offer each other perspectives that come from lived experiences. We also have online options and specialised training options that you are welcome to attend.

Matariki Celebration

Lastly, I am excited to inform you that we have an event coming up in Rotorua. We will be holding a Matariki Celebration Lunch, on 26 June from 10 am – 3 pm. This will be a cultural experience that will allow caregivers and their families to have fun, learn, and be acknowledged for the amazing role you play in providing loving healing homes for the tamariki/children you have in your care.

Nga mihi nui,

Chris 😊
