Kia ora koutou!

There‘s some great stuff happening in our rohe (region) in the lead up to the end of the year – don’t miss out! We’ll get into the details below, but firstly…
I would like to take the opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to those who have been part of the Bay of Plenty Foster Care Association Committee. Many of you have served tirelessly, fundraising and organising events and support groups for years (and I mean lots of years!). You have had a huge impact on the caregiving community in our region. It would be neat to see some photos of the fun and friendships you’ve enjoyed throughout the years, feel free to send them to me and I’ll create a page.

Although the current committee are needing to wind down due to other commitments and changes in ‘life space’, we will be working hard to ensure there are lots of opportunities for caregivers and families in the Bay of Plenty to connect.

If you are interested in carrying on some of the good work carried out by the committee please contact me (Heather). Whatever your capacity, and whatever form this takes, let’s make it happen!

Family Fun Days

family fun day 2020

Don’t forget to register for the free Family Fun Day events! 10-pin bowling in Tauranga and Rotorua and pool events in Whakatane and Taupō. They are lots of fun for the whole family! Click the button below to register.

Training

There is training happening in Tauranga, Whakatane, Taupō and Rotorua this term. I’m loving seeing full workshops and building relationships with caregivers. It’s amazing how much learning and encouragement we get from connecting with each other.

Lastly, it’s not just Santa Claus who’s coming to town … Rob Surtees, the Caring Families Aotearoa Therapist is coming to town too! There is an open meeting for all caregivers who are interested in learning more about Therapeutic Parenting and the PACE approach.

When: Thursday 5 November 10 am – 12 pm
Where: Rotorua Baptist Church, 100 Malfroy Road.

And if you are a koro, foster dad or whānau/kin carer and you live in Rotorua you are invited to a Dad’s Breakfast on the same date at 6.30am!. Come and enjoy some kai and kōrero with Rob. Contact me to pick what you’d like for breakfast.

To RSVP, email me on heatherj@caringfamilies.org.nz

Ngā mihi mahana,

Heather
