Kia ora koutou,

Ka whati haeri te rau harakeke i tona kotahi, ka whakatairanga taumaha aha, nga rau harakeke kite taura.

One strand of flax is easily broken, but many strands woven into a rope can lift any weight.

For me, this sums up what we have achieved as a country, and also what we can do to nurture our tamariki (children) in care. We can deal with any of the challenges in life if we work together. It is important to remember when you are struggling, that our community of caregivers and Caring Families Aotearoa are here with you. For those who are doing OKAY, or no longer have kids in your care, some caregivers would love your support and advice. Our support groups have declined a bit in our region, and I’m really keen to build these up a bit. Please contact me if you are interested in connecting with other caregivers and sharing your knowledge.

This has felt a weird few weeks being back in my office and starting to reconnect with people kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face). My office is on the second floor at Petridish at 8 Stafford Street, so pop in for a coffee (I work part time, so text to make sure I’m there).

Training

Our training will start up after the school holidays, and I will be getting around the region. We will be following Level One Covid-19 guidelines during training to ensure we are all kept safe.

The Training Calendar will be live early next week.

I’m also open to your ideas for an evening with a topic and a cuppa. Please let me know and I will organise a speaker. Please email me your ideas.

Kia kaha, kia hauora, me kia atawhai

Be strong, be healthy, and be kind

Ngā mihi mahana
