Kia ora e te whānau,

Oh my goodness how does the first term go past so quickly! I seem to have been non-stop since returning from Christmas leave and here we are in March.

I have moved office and am now located in the lovely Tahunanui Community Hub at 55 Muritai Street. The front office is not always manned so flick me a text if you want to call in so I can open the door. I have a nice (slightly bigger than my last) back office that backs onto the daycare centre. The sounds coming from there through my window remind me of why I do this work and how hard you caregivers work in order to give our tamariki security and the freedom to be kids. It’s tough mahi (work) but rewarding and worthy.

Keep up with training as it keeps me connected to you all and pop into the support groups to say “hi”. There are new support groups in the region and some that we are working hard to get up and running. If you are interested in hosting a support group let me know, especially if you are able to host an evening support group.  These do not have to be onerous or even too regular, maybe once a term?

We have already had two lovely coffee groups in Blenheim, one to establish a grandparent group and the other to connect with other carers. I look forward to seeing these groups flourish.

Take care you wonderful people, find space for keeping well, I know only too well how easy it is to put your oxygen mask on last. Let’s do better for ourselves.
