CEO Message December 2025
Kia ora
As we approach the festive season, it’s time for me to reflect on the past year and extend my heartfelt thanks to you for providing a safe and healing home for the children in your care.
A highlight for 2025 was the successful rollout of our self-directed online training. It is wonderful to see so many of you taking a keen interest in these shorter, more manageable courses. Our training team released nine online courses throughout the year and have worked hard on developing many more. Altogether, we hosted 234 learners on our self-directed online platform, who completed 572 courses and over 600 hours of caregiver training.
If you would like to invest in some self-care over the holiday period, we have introduced a lovely training this month called “Understanding Wellbeing through a Cultural Lens”. It takes you on a journey to develop a holistic view of your own wellbeing, from a Māori perspective. I thoroughly recommend it – and would love to hear your feedback if you do decide to register.
Thank you for your incredible gift this Christmas, allowing children to experience the childhood they deserve. Your energy, empathy and resilience speak volumes – and make such a positive impact on young lives. I hope your Christmas is wonderful and you have sufficient support around you to take some time out for rest and relaxation.
Our National Office will be closed from Wednesday 24 December and reopen on Monday 12 January. If you experience an urgent matter during this time involving allegations, please call 0800 693 278, leave a message and one of our team will get back to you.
Ngā mihi nui,
