Support Groups

In the above picture are the most supportive, amazing people one could ever wish to meet. This group formed after they all attended the Foundations for Attachment training and this network is something that Rob, our Therapist, would like to replicate around the country.

Rob says a group needs to have a purpose; it’s ok to have a place to download about everything that has or hasn’t happened, but then what?

Rob will be looking for gaps in his diary so he can arrange to come to a town near you. DDP (Dyadic Developmental Practice – the framework that our training is based on) and PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity & Empathy) will be the main agenda for these groups and he will deliver refreshers on Foundations for Attachment. Rob and your Regional Coordinator will be encouraging caregivers to re-establish support networks where there had been previous groups and to form new, more purposeful, thematic groups.

“A group needs a focus to bind it, such as a topic the group members are interested in. It could be about learning how to re-charge, as so many caregivers only know how to give, and feel uncomfortable to take”, says Rob.

For groups who are already active, Rob is happy to meet with you to introduce new themes and ideas for the group to discuss and reflect on.

The best form of support for caregivers is from other caregivers as they truly understand your reality. Keep an eye out on our website and in snippets. We will send a mailout when we have dates for meetings in your area.
